INSTEON products are in 3 of the 10 largest utility Smart Grid tests. With many more established pilot projects with smaller utilities and even more pending, INSTEON has clearly become a leading solution for utilities both large and small.

Example Projects
- Nearly two years of pilot testing with one of the largest utility companies in North America with customers located in five different states
- Established pilot program for municipal utility in the Northern East region of North America. Use of INSTEON products as in-home energy management devices has been shown to reduce peak demand consumption by up to 40%. Key highlights from the pilot included:
- Top 10% of participants saved 16% off their electricity usage over 12 months and saved 18% off their consumption during peak periods
- A select group of participants saw savings of over 40% during peak demand response periods
- Consumers were motivated by dollar savings and environmental benefits
- Larger homes saw the biggest impact on energy savings
- INSTEON recently won a pilot with a utility serving over 3 million customers. INSTEON was selected after extensive proof of concept testing.
- Two pilots programs existing in the Southern states. These pilots focus on rural areas. INSTEON components make up the in-home devices for demand response and load shed applications.
- 2 pilot programs in the mid-west for 2 utilities are currently being implemented. INSTEON was selected because of the proven track record and the dual-mesh capabilities.
